The joint stock company "EVROPA" dates from 1882, when it was formed as a craftsman's workshop for production of candy, laokoum and similar products from sugar, with daily capacities of 250 kg and five employees on 150 m2 working surface.
In that time the equipment in the workshop was very modest - some copper cauldrons (built from bricks and clay) for production of candy mass and boiling of laokoum, marble slabs for cooling the laokoum mass.

Apart from the investments which considered the production processes mechanization, the continual improvement of the quality of the products was also considered by engaging the best masters in this job.

The pre-war and the war condition in the country during the two world wars, imposed a period of stagnation in the work of "EVROPA". The post-war years are a period when under hampered conditions only some of the products were produced.

When in 1952 there were conditions for dislocating the factory in "new" premises, previously adapted and adjusted for the factory's needs, a period came convenient for partly realization of the already prepared investment program.
In accordance with this purchase of new equipment for production of candy and caramels started and technology in all phases for chocolate production (cocoa beans roasting, preparation of the cocoa mass, dyeing and casting). The change of the existing with a completely new modern equipment in the candy and chocolate plant contributed to production growth, high quality and wide range of products.

The catastrophic earthquake from 1963 caused serious damages to the factory, but thanks to the approved financial assets (credits), efforts were made in building modern working premises and new modern technologies in the chocolate department, introducing new kinds of products - chocolate desserts.
The newly built premises provided forming a modern production unit for wafer products. In this period there was also some reconstruction, modernization and expansion in the other factory plants.

The investment activity continued in the period between 1989-1992 and it provided a high level of development in the following years, with an increased production, sales and very good financial results.

The greatest production was achieved in 1991 (8,893 t) and sale (9,154 t).

Today in "EVROPA" there are 430 employees and the production process is in two shifts.
The purchased quality equipment from Western Europe has given an excellent quality of our products.
Within wafers a high quality has been achieved which increased the sale and provided presence at the European and world markets. A new technology has been introduced for biscuits production, besides the already existing - for wafers and candies.
The new technology "one shot" for chocolate casting, filled chocolate and desserts, has modernized the production with a high level of automatization in the part of making them and the direct link, through the conveyer belt, with the packing of the products.
The new equipment in the dessert sector contributed to improvement of the quality and quantity for the fondant and the foamy products and it also provided a production of new products of cast gummy and jelly candies.
As far as the candy are considered, the new line for hard filled candy has not only improved the quality of the products, but has also increased their range. Also, in this sector a new line for caramels production has been purchased which is going to contribute to increasing the quality and expanding the range of this kind of products.

For the last years there have been some positive changes noticed in the part of packing the products - the result is quality designed and attractive products, proved by the praises for the great quality, design and packing from our business partners from the domestic market and abroad, as well as from the consumers.

For the last years we have invested in computerization, which provides presence of latest technologies and guaranteed quality of the products.

As a reference to the above mentioned is the beginning of the process of certification of the joint stock company "EVROPA" for the certificate ISO 9001.
